Turas Shinn Féin go Stormont
Mayo Sinn Féin paid a recent visit to Stormont, the parliament of the Assembly in the North of Ireland. Caitríona Ruane, Education Minister, hosted the large delegation and gave a hearty Mayo welcome to everyone. The delegation saw the parliament in action and met with the Deputy First Minister, Martin Mc Guinness, as well as various other MLAs in the Assembly.
This formed part of a two day visit to Belfast with an interesting and full itinerary, which included: a tour of Long Kesh Prison and Crumlin Road Jail; a black taxi tour of West Belfast; a visit to various museums and a visit to the Cultúrlann, the Irish language centre in the heart of the Gaeltacht in West Belfast. The trip was a huge success and Mayo Sinn Féin look forward to organising further historical and cultural cross border trips in the near future.
