Gerry Adams in Mayo to meet Health organisationsPublished: 9 June, 2006 Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP is to spend two days in County Mayo to promote his party's All-Ireland health policy document, Healthcare in an Ireland of Equals. Mr. Adams is meeting health related groups and trade unions from across Mayo on Thursday 15th June in Castlebar to brief them on his party's document and discuss with them the many issues that surround the delivery of healthcare in Ireland. Mr. Adams will be promoting an All-Ireland, rights based approach to our health services and the ending of the two-tier health system that exists in this country where healthcare is not delivered based on need but on the ability to pay. Sinn Féin general election candidate in Mayo, Cllr. Gerry Murray, will join the Sinn Féin leader during his visit. On Thursday 15th June to mark the centenary of the death of Mayo man Michael Davitt, Mr. Adams will deliver the Michael Davitt Memorial Lecture in the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar at 8pm. The lecture is open to the public. |
