Gas Group Should Disband - Murray

Sinn Féin's General Election Candidate in Mayo, Cllr. Gerry Murray has said that the newly formed 'Mayo Pro Gas Group' should disband as they have done the people of the County a gross disservice by not focusing on the core issue at the heart of the Corrib Gas project, namely the management and exploitation of Ireland's natural resources. Cllr. Murray accused the Group of over simplifying the issue and grossly exaggerating the economic benefits of the project to the County. Read full article

COST OF LIVING MUST BE TACKLED BY BOLD AND BRAVE POLICIES

Sinn Féin's General Election Candidate in Mayo, Councillor Gerry Murray has said that the high cost of living in Ireland is having a major impact on people's quality of life. In a statement Cllr. Murray said that the high cost of housing in particular was leading to huge increases in personal debt. Though house prices are cheaper in rural rather than urban areas, the cost difference is off set by an almost exclusive dependency on expensive car transport in rural Ireland. Read full article

Campbell selected as Sinn Féin Director of Elections

Castlebar Town Councillor, Noel Campbell has been selected to head Sinn Féin's general election campaign in Mayo. Councillor Campbell had initially put his name forward to contest the party's selection convention last January but withdrew before a vote was taken, favouring instead to back Mayo County Councillor Gerry Murray for the candidacy.
